Resources To Have Fun Traveling in Atlanta Georgia

May 3rd, 2008 by travel

Are you planning an extended stay in Atlanta? Obviously, you don’t want to be stuck in your hotel the entire time you’re there. Even if you are in Atlanta on business, you’ll find yourself with some down time when you may be looking for something to do.

If you are in Atlanta, there are several places you can visit to pass the time. Take a side trip to the Atlanta History Center, where you’ll get a glimpse of the lives of Georgian farmers at the Tullie Smith Farm and of wealthy Atlantans at the Swan House Mansions. You’ll also see artifacts, photos, and arts in a museum.

A trip to Atlanta should also include a trip to the Zoo Atlanta, one of the oldest zoos in the country. It underwent a multi-million dollar renovation in the 1980’s, replicating natural habitats for its inhabitants, some of which are endangered species, including two panda bears from China. This zoo is still expanding today.

The Jimmy Carter Library and Museum can also be found in Atlanta and might be a source of knowledge while you are in Atlanta. The former president’s home offers information about his administration, personal life, and other extensive historic information regarding Carter. The library is situated on a historic hilltop and surrounded by 30 acres of gorgeous gardens, waterfalls, and lakes.

Perhaps a trip to the World of Coca-Cola will complete your stay in Atlanta. This ode to the world-famous drink, which was created a century ago in an Atlanta pharmacy, fills three stories with all the information you ever needed, wanted, or couldn’t even imagine about the soft drink. The museum is full of memorabilia, hands-on exhibits, and entertaining video presentations, as well as unlimited samples of different flavors.
A stay in Atlanta, regardless of the reason for your visit, can be entertaining, if you know the places to visit and fill your free time.
